Stormwater: Programs & Resources
On September 15, 2025, Chattanooga’s Neighborhood Services hosted a Roundtable on Flooding & Stormwater Management. The City’s Stormwater Division presented several important programs and resources available to residents:
Highlights
- RainSmart Yards & Rewards - Discounts on annual stormwater fees (up to 75%) for creek-friendly landscaping and runoff reduction.
- RainSmart Rain Barrels - $50 reimbursement per barrel (up to 10) to capture rainwater and reduce runoff.
- Pond Maintenance Program - City support for assessing and rehabilitating neighborhood detention/retention ponds.
- Sewer Lateral Assistance Program (SLAP) - Financial help for low-income residents to repair or replace failing sewer laterals.
- Stormwater Fee Assistance - Partnership with United Way to cover stormwater fees for qualifying households.
- 311 Support - Report drainage issues, flooding, illicit discharge, or litter via the CHA311 app, text 61222, call 311, or email 311@chattanooga.gov .
- Floodplain Management Updates: New flood maps take effect November 28, 2025. Property owners should check their flood risk status.
